Dennis Lee Mauney
( September 8, 1930 - June 1, 2023 )
Dennis Lee Mauney, age 92, of Ramseur Street in Lincolnton, passed away on Thursday, June 1, 2023.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Dennis was born September 8, 1930, in Gaston County, to the late Clarence W. Mauney and Hester Winebarger Mauney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alene Brown Mauney; son, Kevin Dennis Mauney; sister, Aileen Burton; brothers, Howard Mauney and Leonard Mauney; and grandson, Jeremy Mauney. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Firestone after 31 years as a supervisor/fixer. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and loved to hunt. Dennis also volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandy Smith (Mike) and Kelly Mauney Dellinger (Daniel Gilroy), all of Lincolnton; six grandchildren, Michael Smith, Scott Smith, Holly Caldwell Rothrock, Ashley Brooke Dellinger, and Alexis Dellinger Schronce; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Ronald Burton, Neil Burton, Danny Burton, Tammy, Todd and Bret Mauney, Rodney Mauney and Roger Henderson.
