John Michael Cline

John Michael “Mike” Cline, age 72, of Lincolnton and Lake Hickory, a long-time North Carolina banker, passed away on Thursday, July 20, 2023.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Hollybrook Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Cline of Lincolnton; daughters, Katherine Cline of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Meredith Cline of Rutherford County; brother, Guy E. Cline, III and wife Christol of Sherrills Ford; sister, Frances Patterson and husband Hal of Chapel Hill; niece, Candace Cline of Charlotte; nephew, Brandon Cline of Sherrills Ford; stepson, Jeremi Stamey and wife Haley; and step-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jayli Stamey. He also leaves behind many friends in Rutherford County, Lincolnton, Lake Hickory, and the low country of South Carolina.
Mike graduated from Lincolnton High School, then attended Western Carolina University and Lenoir-Rhyne University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He also attended the North Carolina School of Banking Advanced Management Class. Mike had a lifelong love for the outdoors, hunting and fishing, especially at the Santee Cooper lakes. He was a lifelong member of the Old Hickory Rifle and Pistol Club in Bostic, NC, which he served as President for many years. He served on various boards in the communities in which he lived. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Forest City where he served in numerous positions, member of the Forest City Masonic Lodge #381, and the Oasis Temple Shrine. During his long banking career, he loved nothing more than helping his customers achieve their dreams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital, 950 W. Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605, or to Carolina Caring Hospice, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658.
