Marva Jean Ramsey Richard
( May 18, 1932 - August 19, 2023 )
Jean Ramsey Richard, age 91, of Lawrenceville, GA, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on August 19, 2023 after a steady decline with vascular dementia.

The funeral will take place at Messiah United Methodist Church in Vale, NC on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at 2:00 pm.  Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin, NC directly after.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16. 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lilburn, GA at 4:00 pm.  Visitation will take place for an hour prior to each service.

Jean worked as a secretary at Burlington Industries for 18 years, stayed home with her children for 18 years, and went back to work at Berkmar United Methodist Church for 8 years before retiring.  She was an active member of her church, a skilled seamstress and crafter, and an avid Atlanta Braves fan.  She prioritized her family.  She was a sweet soul and this world was a better place for her having been in it.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Edith Ramsey, her husband of more than 46 years, Robert Glenn Richard, and her daughter, Susan Richard Boswell.   She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Segars (Wesley) of Lilburn, GA; three grandchildren, Hunter and Holden Boswell, and Sarah Segars; nephews Richard and Randall Mauney of Atlanta.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to Messiah United Methodist Church in Vale, NC or Trinity Lutheran Church in Lilburn GA.  

Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton is serving the Richard family in North Carolina.  Bill Head Funeral Home in Tucker is serving the family in Georgia.
