Julia Alice Heavner
( February 3, 1941 - September 5, 2023 )
Julia Alice Heavner was born a twin on February 3, 1941 to Paul and Essie Heavner.  Her twin sister is Jane Heavner.  Julia also had twin brothers, Harold (deceased) and Carroll, who were ten years older.

Julia attended Union High School and graduated in 1959.   She attended Lenoir Rhyne College in Hickory, N.C. where she earned the Degree of Bachelor of Arts.

Julia began her teaching career at Asbury Elementary School.  She later taught at Central Middle School, both schools located in Lincoln County.  Julia earned the Degree of Master of Education in 1972 at UNCC. She earned the Certificate of Advanced Study at UNCC in 1985 and was certified in Academically Gifted and School Administration.

In 1974, Julia started teaching at East Lincoln Middle School and retired in 1995.

Julia and Jane owned the Twins Family Restaurant in Boger City for about 10 years and also owned the Video Corner Store in Lincolnton for several years.

A graveside service will be held at Bethphage Lutheran Church, Lincolnton, on Monday, September 11th at 2:00 p.m.. Receiving will be held prior to the service from 1:00 to 1:45 in the Family Life Center. Memorials may be made to Bethphage Lutheran Church, 3440 Hwy 182, Lincolnton, NC, 28092.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, John Paul and Essie Leonard Heavner, brother Harold Heavner, nephews Steve (Beverly) and Mark Heavner. Julia is survived by her loving sister Jane, brother Carroll (Mary), sister in law Jonnie Heavner, and many nieces and nephews. Julia and Jane's favorite little friend is their dog, Blue.

Jane and Julia loved to travel.  They visited every state in the USA except Alaska.  They toured Nova Scotia and Canada.  While touring 21 countries in Europe, they saw the White Cliffs of Dover and the Rock of Gibraltar.  They also enjoyed touring Tangier in Northern Africa.  Jane and Julia toured the Sydney Opera House in Australia and saw the Great Barrier Reef.  They stayed one night on a deer farm in New Zealand. They also vacationed in the Bahamas and Bermuda.  They climbed the pyramids in Mexico. Jane and Julia were caregivers of their of their Mother for five years before she died in 2001. Jane and Julia lived at Lake Norman for a number of years, but currently reside in Lincoln County.
