Frances Marie Dean Armstrong

Frances Marie Dean Armstrong, age 88, of 1595 Angela Court in Lincolnton, died on Sunday, September 24, 2023.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2023, at McKendree United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Greg B. Gordon officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 until 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Armstrong was born April 29, 1935, in Transylvania County, to the late Daniel Guy Dean, Sr. and Annie Marie Hamilton Dean. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Mack Monroe Armstrong; brother, Daniel Guy Dean, Jr.; and sister, Martha Ann Dean. She worked as a daycare director.
She is survived by her sister, Mary Louise Dean of Brevard; sons, Dr. Floyd Daniel Armstrong (Kim) of Miami, FL, and Mark Wesley Armstrong (Kelly) of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; daughter, Carolyn McCraw Durham (Rick) of Raleigh, NC; seven grandsons, Matthew Daniel Armstrong (Vicki), Timothy Michael Armstrong (Ana), Austin Neil McCraw (Natasha), Mason Wesley Armstrong, Carson Scott McCraw (Britney), Joshua Brantley Armstrong, and Alexander Mark Armstrong; three great-grandchildren, Leighton Adaline McCraw, Rayden Sol Armstrong, and Jameson Ian McCraw; special caregiver, Kerrie Thomas.
In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Frances’ commitment to young children with special needs, the family requests donations be made to the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami, 1601 NW 12th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136.
