David Eugene “Gene” Freeman, age 70, of Vale, died on Monday, October 2, 2023.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at New Vision Ministries, 661 Clark Creek Road, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
Gene was born October 25, 1952, in Lincoln County, to the late David Junior Freeman and Willie Mae Hill Stroupe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Baby Freeman. Gene served in the United States Army. He worked laying floors, fixing cars, and upholstery.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Ballard Freeman of the home; son, Tommy Freeman (Jodie) of Vale; two daughters, Sheila Ward (Mark) of Indian Trail, and Amy Lunceford (Allen) of Boiling Springs; two brothers, Scott Freeman and Eddie Freeman, both of Virginia; grandchildren, Elizabeth Morgan (Fabian), Kyle Davis (Madison), Alyssa Gordon (Jeff), Zachary Davis (Amber), Roger Matheson (Hannah), Sean Matheson (Breanna), Matthew Ward (Abigail), Nathan Matheson (Amy), and Elam Freeman; great-grandchildren, Lainey, Evalette, Sawyer, Forrest, Tyson, and Declan; and his beloved fur baby, Sofie.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
