Janet Hager Howie

Janet Hager Howie, age 90, of Sifford Road in Stanley, died on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Sherrill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Howie was born August 29, 1933, in Lincoln County, to the late Ed C. Hager and Lucy Edwards Hager. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Howie; sons, Carroll Howie and Randy Howie; brothers, Edward Hager and Erson Hager, Glenn Hager and Morris Hager ; and sisters, Janie Wilson, Velma Nixon, Hattie Anne Cobb, and Norrie Merritt. She worked for Hormel Foods and was a longtime volunteer with East Lincoln Christian Ministry.
She is survived by a son, Johnny Lee Howie (Kathy) of Lowesville; daughters-in-law, Amy Howie and Tess Howie; grandchildren, Kelly Nodine (Dave), Kasey Tanner (Wesley), Marc Howie (Jane), and Chris Howie (Evie); great-grandchildren, Madison Nodine, Davis Nodine, Kylan Tanner, Miller Tanner, Isabella Thompson, Elisa Sprouse (Dennis), Dakota Gibson (Evan), Elana Howie, and Dylan Combes (Heather); and great-great-grandchildren, Carson Combes, Adna Sprouse, Hank Sprouse, Emory Sprouse, Wesleigh Gibson, Callum Gibson, and Camdyn Gibson.
Memorials may be made to Hill’s Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 S. Highway 16 Business, Stanley, NC 28164.
