Jane Conner Carroll

Jane Conner Carroll, 93, of Cornelius, North Carolina, died on January 31, 2024.
She was born on October 26, 1930, to Alex and Angie (Nan) Conner in Newport News, Virginia.
Jane graduated from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1951 among one of the first classes of women.
She married Herb Carroll on December 27, 1957, and they had two children, Sheri and Bill.
The work of her life began when she was elected as the Supervisor of Elections of Broward County Florida in 1968. She retired from this position in December of 2000 after being re-elected eight times. She was a key player in the Presidential election re-count of 2000 and throughout the years she was an advocate for election reform. She served on local and national committees and even contributed to several books on the process the elections.
When she wasn’t traveling for work she loved traveling the world with her husband Herb. She was known for her care for people and her generous heart. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly. She provided many opportunities for her family to travel and have new experiences.
Jane is survived by her daughter Sheri Carroll Mullen of Lincolnton, NC, her son Bill Carroll (Summer) of Aliso Viejo, CA; her grandchildren, Katie Wise (Rob) of Vale, NC and Mathew Mullen (Maggie) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and her great-grandchildren, Luke and Andy Wise.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alex and Angie Conner, her husband Herb Carroll, and her son-in-law Stuart Mullen.
A private family service will be held with Dr. Bob Wise officiating.
