Dexter Olan McCarter

Dexter Olan McCarter, 74, of Spartanburg, SC, died February 2, 2024. Born April 25, 1949, near Gramling, SC, he was the son of the late William Grady and Hester Russell McCarter.
Mr. McCarter retired from the Wofford College Information Technology Department after eight years. Prior to Wofford, he worked 39 years in the computer field for Bigelow, Telecom USA, Equifax, Flagstar, Insignia Financial Group, and AIMCO.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Janice Fay McCarter McCarter; daughter Melisa Garcia (Gabriel); granddaughters Ana, Juanita, Julia, Lupita, Veronica; grandson Dexter (Matthew’s son); step-daughter Sindi Hall McGowan (Kenneth) and Kenneth’s children Paul, Ellen; step-son Mark Hall (Cynthia) and step-grandchildren Trysten, Trevor; 14 great grandchildren; and brother Stanley Brooks McCarter.
He was predeceased by son Matthew Mabry McCarter, brother Hollis Grady McCarter, sister Barbara Cleo McCarter Watson Green, and great grandson Camden McCarter.
A brief memorial service will be held at a later date at Columbus Presbyterian Church, Columbus, NC.
