Timothy Kent McDaniel, Jr.
( February 22, 1987 - February 7, 2024 )
In Loving Memory of Timothy Kent McDaniel, Jr. (February 22, 1987 – February 7, 2024)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Timothy Kent McDaniel, Jr., a soft-spoken, old soul affectionately known as Kent, who was tragically taken from us in a motor vehicle accident on February 7, 2024, in Lincolnton, NC. Just 36 years old, Kent's vibrant spirit and boundless energy were extinguished far too soon, leaving a void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Kent was the cherished son born to Laurie Hoyle Evans and Timothy Kent McDaniel, Sr., stepson to Guy Evans and Patricia Parker, beloved brother to Kristin McDaniel Flynn, doting uncle to Brayden Flynn, stepbrother to James, Paul, and Mark Evans and Jessica Parker, grandson to Nell Kennedy and Cloe E. McDaniel and step grandson to James Kennedy, nephew to Teresa and Steve Hoyle, Nancy and Bert Humphreys, Susie and Andrew Dod, Tim Jones, and Jill and Jack Kenley. His cousins, Brad Hoyle, Tracy Pflaumer, Amber Gladden, Carlee Sullivan, Gracie Pouliot, Sophie Dod, Brooke Paramore, Jay Kenley, and Jessica Auten will miss his laughter, smile, hugs, and kindness. Kent was predeceased by his grandfathers, Benny Steve Hoyle, Sr., and Cramer J. McDaniel.

Kent's life was a testament to his kind-hearted nature, infectious laugh, and the joy he brought to every room. An avid lover of music, the outdoors, and animals, Kent found peace and solace in nature, whether hiking, relaxing by the lake, or simply enjoying the beauty of the world around him. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his compassion for others, always ready to lend a hand or an ear to those in need, especially his sister’s beloved cat, Luna, whom he loved dearly.

A graduate of Forestview High School in Gastonia, NC, Kent was whip-smart and incredibly hardworking. An accomplished musician, his guitar skills were off the charts. His jam and looping sessions with friends and fellow musicians were his passion and took the breath away from those who marveled at the magical sounds he created, including many thousands who watched his YouTube videos. Despite enduring excruciating pain in recent years that prevented him from playing his beloved instrument, Kent's spirit remained unbroken, and he soldiered on. His recent purchase of a brand-new guitar he lovingly named “Ruby,” which he had eyed for many months, brought him immense joy and excitement, symbolizing hope, and renewal in his musical pursuits.

The family is deeply grateful for the cherished memories of this past Christmas spent with Kent, where his infectious smile and laughter were abundantly shared. Kent never entered a room without hugging his family members and never left without saying, “I love you.” Now more precious than ever, these moments will be held close to our hearts forever.

Kent's departure leaves us with heavy hearts, but we are comforted by the outpouring of support and love from his friends and the community. Instead of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Blue Ridge Parkway Foundation (https://www.brpfoundation.org/), a cause close to Kent's heart, honoring his love for nature and the outdoors.

As we bid farewell to Kent, we celebrate his life, music, old soul, gentle heart, and the mark he left on all who knew him. His legacy of kindness, courage, and creativity will continue to inspire us. His lasting, perfect melody will forever resonate in our hearts. Rest in peace. And enjoy Kent’s talent here:
