Edward Eugene Friday

Edward Eugene Friday, age 89, of Narrow Gauge Road in Dallas, NC, passed away on Friday, February 09, 2024. Mr. Friday was born July 09, 1934, in Gaston County, NC, son of the late Lewis Edward and Mattie Bryte Aderholdt Friday.
Mr. Friday worked for Duke Energy for 32 years. He was a life-long member of Philadelphia Lutheran Church. He enjoyed carrying on the tradition of maintaining the century-old family farm. Mr. Friday is especially remembered for the love he had for his animals, especially his pot-bellied pig, Wilbur. Mr. Friday served in the United States Army during the Korean War and for some time thereafter. He was a proud 60 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Knights of Pythias. For two years he held the office of Imperial Prince for the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan, a subset of the Knights of Pythias, in the United States and Canada. During that time, he traveled to the various Lodges in the U.S. and Canada. Mr. Friday was also a 23 year colon cancer survivor. Upon being diagnosed with colon cancer, he became an advocate to his friends for colon cancer screening. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mr. Friday is survived by his wife of 62 years, Carolyn Eason Friday of the home; daughter, Linda Bennett (Jim) of Lincolnton, NC; sons, Mike Friday, Lewis Edward Friday II (Linda Marie), and Arthur John Friday (Deana) all of Dallas, NC; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Friday was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Friday.
A funeral service for Mr. Friday will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Philadelphia Lutheran Church, Dallas, NC, with Pastor Shea Berbaum officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Saturday at the church prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Philadelphia Lutheran Church, 1910 Philadelphia Church Road, Dallas, NC 28034; or to the charity of one’s choice.
