Helen Ballard Turner

Helen Ballard Turner, age 90, of Westwood Lane in Wilkesboro, died on Thursday, April 25, 2024.
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Stanley Spence and Rev. Phillip Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Helen was born May 23, 1933, in Lincoln County to the late Horace and Ethel Burke Ballard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Columbus James Turner, Jr. She worked for A & P Grocery, was active with the extension homemakers having served as state president, and was voted Lincoln County Woman of the Year.
She is survived by a son, James Turner and wife Heather of Rock Hill, SC; daughter, Rev. Patricia Turner of Wilkesboro; granddaughter, Lizzy Turner of Rock Hill, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
