Chad was born March 13, 1967, in Mecklenburg County, to Linda Brown Smith and the late Jim Donald Smith. He was a manager at Actega in Lincolnton for 30 years (formerly Water Ink Tech).
He is survived by his wife, Becky Hartsoe Smith of the home; son, Dylan Smith (Mary Caroline Mazzucco) of Vale; daughters, Camille Smith Jenkins (Joseph) of Vale, and Callie Smith Fisher (Nick) of Cherryville; mother, Linda Brown Smith of Vale; and sister, Myra Stallings (Seth) of Oxford.
Chad loved his wife, Becky, his son, Dylan and his daughters Camille and Callie deeply. Chad was committed to community organizations where he recalled some of his best years. Chad spent his younger years playing softball in the Boger City men’s church softball league for Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a proud coach and pitcher for many years. He was an active member of Cookville Masonic Lodge #502 where he recently received an award for his 25 years of service, and was also a Lincoln County Shriner where he held the position of President of the Shrine Club (2004/2013).
Chad enjoyed fixing vintage cars with his son and his friends. He never missed a Braves, Carolina Panthers or NC State college game and was a devoted fan of Dale Earnhardt.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, PO Box 7, Vale, NC 28168, or to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, Oxford, NC at https://donate.lovetotherescue.org/give/145680/?gbraid=0AAAAADy9t17TbCWmb8Bb18VgTjT2cyFF6#!/donation/checkout?c_src=google&c_src2=loveshriners
