Richard Ellis Baucom, Jr.

Richard Ellis Baucom, Jr., age 60, passed away on November 17, 2024, at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, North Carolina, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024 at McKendree Methodist Church with Rev. Gregory Richard officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:45 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service Saturday in the fellowship hall of McKendree Methodist Church.
Born on September 9, 1964, he was a lifelong resident of Lincolnton, North Carolina. Richie, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Lincolnton High School, and dedicated years of service to the United States Air Force, embodying the values of duty and honor throughout his career.
Richie was a passionate automobile aficionado and an avid collector of vintage license plates. His enthusiasm for all things automotive was well-known among his friends and family. He was a devout member of McKendree Methodist Church, where he participated actively in community services and events.
Richie is survived by his father, Richard E. Baucom, Sr.; his sister, Shelly Baucom Lockman and her husband, Shane; nephew, Foster Williamson; niece, Caroline Williamson; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Stallings Baucom, and his grandparents, Willard L. and Audrey Baucom, and Harvey O. and Ola Mae Stallings.
Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton is handling the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607, to benefit the victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina, reflecting Richie's lifelong commitment to helping those in need.
