Dorothy "Dot" Reynolds Prater
( October 21, 1935 - November 19, 2024 )
On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, surrounded by her kids, Dorothy “Dot” Reynolds Prater, age 89, of Lincolnton, left her earthly home and entered Heaven’s glory.
Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Lincolnton Church of God with Pastor Danny Houser officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Prater was born October 21, 1935, in Lincoln County, to the late George and Vera Crump Reynolds. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Harold Prater; sons, Randy Prater and Phil Prater; grandson, Landon Prater; and siblings, Roy Reynolds, Maria Sronce, Louise Boyce, Estelle Reinhardt, Stella Strickland, and Georgia Maners. Dorothy was a devoted Sunday School teacher and prayer warrior.
She is survived by children, Donna Thomas (Richard) of Sherrills Ford, Scott Prater of Lincolnton, Sandra Moore (Jimmy) and Tammy Shrum (Marty) of Lincolnton; grandchildren, Kyle Prater (Anna) of Dallas, Travis Prater (Laura) of Lincolnton, Emily Walker (Justin) of Denver, Ethan Moore of Lincolnton, Holden Prater (Katrina) of Vale, Ryan Shrum (Mara), and Nolan Shrum of Lincolnton; great-grandchildren, McCoy, Milan and Mathis Walker, Hattie, Boone, Callie and Quinn Shrum, Beckett and Anniston Prater, Octavia Moore, and Mallie Prater; sister, Mary Hartman of Lincolnton; brother, Ray Reynolds of Stanley; daughters-in-law, Reba Prater and Tanya Prater; and step-grandchildren, Matt and Aaron Moore, Nicole, Megan, and Kristen Thomas; and two sisters-in-law, Gladys Lance and Ann Weatherford.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the hospice nurses, and especially Kim Carpenter.
