Corene Newton

Corene “Rene” Newton, age 93, of Lincolnton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, surrounded by family.
Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Yount and Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
“Rene” was born June 17, 1931, in Lincoln County, to the late Alonzo and Alice Leonhardt Newton West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Schultz; and twelve siblings, Viola, Minnie, Virgie, Curley, Betty, Lawrence, Dolly, James, Alonzo, Leon, Evon, and Ruby. Rene worked as a seamstress in textiles.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Schultz (Linda) of Lincolnton, and Steve Schultz (Judy) of Newton; grandson, John Paul Schultz of Lincolnton, and his mother Reesa; and great-grandson, Collier Schultz.
