Emilie Hovis Sides

Mrs. Emilie Hovis Sides, 86 years old, passed away on December 19, 2024, peacefully surrounded by her family.
Emilie was born on August 20, 1938, to the late Garrison and Margaret Hovis of Dallas, NC. She graduated from Dallas High School, obtained her BS in Home Economics and master’s in education from Appalachian State University.
She was employed by Lincoln County Schools for thirty years where she taught eighth grade science. She retired in 1997 and spent her time traveling with friends, reading and quilting. Emilie was a dedicated member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin, NC where she served faithfully.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years Haskell David Sides, Sr.
Those left to cherish her memory are her two children, Dara Champion (Russ), Haskell David Sides, Jr. (Autumn) and four grandchildren, Jeth Champion, Jenna Champion, Haskell David Sides, III (Brylyn) and Garrison Sides.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hardin, NC with receiving of friends beginning at 1:30 p.m.
