Samuel Elliotte White
( February 28, 1937 - December 23, 2024 )


Samuel Elliotte White, age 87 of Johnson City, Tennessee, and formerly of Lincolnton, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2024, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel.  Masonic Memorial rites will be given at the conclusion of the service. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Warlick Funeral Home prior to the service. Burial will be private at Hollybrook Cemetery.

Sam was born February 28, 1937, in Lincoln County.  He was the son of the late Albert Walter White and Lora Little White.  He was preceded in death by his wife Rosina Clark White, and granddaughter Samara Wilcox. Mr. White was a veteran of the US Navy. He served on the maiden voyage of the USS Saratoga aircraft carrier in 1956.  He was retired from Carolina Freight.  Sam served as Master of Lincoln Lodge No. 137 three times, 1968, 2005 and 2011.  He received his 50-year membership certificate and pin in 2013 and his 60-year certificate and pin in 2023. Sam was a member of the Masonic Fraternity over 61 years and a Certified Lecturer for over 48 years.   He was a District Deputy Grand Master in 1979-1981, and District Deputy Grand Lecturer in 1985-1987 for the 53rd Masonic district of NC.  Mr. White was a Shriner and a Charter member of the Bobtail Unit of the Oasis Shriners.  He was also a Charter member of the Oasis Past Masters Unit.  He was a 49-year member of the Scottish Rite.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa W. Wilcox and husband Donald J. Wilcox of Johnson City, TN; son, Elliotte White and wife LeAnn of Raleigh, NC; sister, Kathy Naomi Buchanan of Iron Station; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
