Bobby Dean Wray
( January 15, 1943 - March 24, 2025 )
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bobby Dean "Bo" Wray, who departed this life on March 24, 2025, at the age of 82. Bo was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering love for those around him.
Bo was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who honorably served his country with valor and dedication. His military service earned him numerous accolades, including the Bronze Star with Combat "V", the Combat Action Ribbon, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. His bravery and sacrifice will always be remembered and honored.
After his military service, Bo built a career and retired from Vermont American, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.
Bo is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Wray, of the home; his son, Steven Sanborn of Lincolnton, NC; and his daughter, Amanda Lentz (Matt) of Lincolnton, NC. He was a proud grandfather to Kinley Sanborn of Boone, NC; Charlotte Wray Lentz; and Levi Matthew Lentz of Lincolnton, NC.
He is also survived by his siblings: sisters Sandra Kim (Man Hyong) of Virginia Beach, VA; Janice Childers of Lincolnton, NC; Kathy Dellinger (Larry) of Lincolnton, NC; Donna Kitchings (Danny) of Cherryville, NC; and his brother Buddy Wray (Brittany) of Lincolnton, NC.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Warlick Funeral Home on Thursday, March 27th, with visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., followed by a service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. Military funeral honors will be held immediately afterward at High Shoals Cemetery, where Bo will be laid to rest with the recognition he so greatly deserves.
Bo’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him, and his legacy of bravery, love, and kindness will never be forgotten.
Born on January 15, 1943, Bo was the son of the late Joe Andy Wray and Margaret Louise Jones Wray. His brother, Barry Wray, and his sister, Peggy Lockridge, preceded him in death.
