Peggy Chaney Dyke
( June 5, 1938 - April 4, 2025 )
Peggy Chaney Dyke, age 86, of Lincolnton peacefully went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 4, 2025. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Gerald Dyke, Sr. They created many beautiful memories over their 40 years of marriage and now they are together forever, embraced in God’s loving arms. During her final years, Peggy was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Debbie Avery.
Peggy was a true inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her. Despite facing the immense challenge of a life-changing accident that took her legs, Peggy’s unwavering strength, faith, and unbreakable determination allowed her to rebuild her life. She faced every obstacle with a beautiful smile, always maintaining a positive outlook and a heart full of love.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Peggy’s love for her family was immeasurable. She cherished every moment spent with them, and her warmth and kindness touched the hearts of all who came into her life. Peggy also loved her precious fur baby, Padie, who has already gone to be in Doggie Heaven.
Peggy was born on June 5, 1938, in Laurens, South Carolina, to the late William and Lois Chaney. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Gerald Dyke, Sr.; brothers Bob and Willie Chaney; sisters Joann Chaney and Virginia Stamey; and niece Tammy Muterspaw.
She is lovingly remembered by her only daughter, Debbie Avery (Donald) of Lincolnton; sons Jerry Reel (Debbie) of High Shoals and Mike Reel of High Shoals; sister Jane Taylor of Lincolnton; brother Bud Chaney of Lincolnton; grandsons Shane Reel (Amy) and Chad Avery (Wendy); granddaughters Krissy Patterson (Kenny), Dana Church (Chris), and Chelsea Seagle; great-grandchildren Aaron Miller (Jessica), Alexis Miller, Aliyah McLean, Avery Keller (Cameron), Haley Morris, Ashlyn Reel, Tyler Avery, Anistyn Reel, Sutton Seagle; and three great-great-grandchildren, along with her entire family, who will miss her more than words can express.
The family will receive friends at Warlick Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 12:30 pm- 1:45 pm with the funeral service immediately following at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
In honor of Peggy’s memory, we ask that you take a moment today to hug someone you love, just as Peggy would have. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of High Shoals, PO Box 37, High Shoals, NC, 28077, where she was a lifetime member.
