John Lewis Moretz

John Lewis Moretz, age 79 of Amity Church Road in Iron Station, passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.
Inurnment will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Warlick Funeral Home.
Mr. Moretz was born in Watauga County, to the late Elbert Lester Moretz, Sr. and Treva McGuire Moretz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Howard Moretz; daughter, Darlene M. Boggs; and son, Bobby Brian Leger. He worked as a truck driver. After retirement, he was an avid produce gardener. He shared his harvest with his family and community. He also worked as a gas station attendant at Sam’s Club.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Gentry Moretz of the home; daughter, Miranda M. Schrum (Jed); sons, Barry M. Leger (Sha), and Michael J. Moretz; brother, Elbert L. Moretz, Jr.; and granddaughter, Maggie I. Leger.
Memorials may be made to the South Fork Baptist Association, PO Box 246, Lincolnton, NC 28093.
