Margaret Goodson Lawing
( March 2, 1932 - June 5, 2025 )
Margaret Goodson Lawing, age 93, of Maiden passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family in her home.
Her funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Macedonia Baptist Church on Highway 150 East, where she was a devoted and active member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:15 p.m. prior to the service.
Margaret was born March 2, 1932, in Lincoln County, to the late Lester and Greyannis Barker Goodson. She was preceded in death by her parents, along with her loving husband, Cecil Leon Lawing; sister, Dorothy G. Shrum; grandson, Ricky Brandon Owens; brothers-in-law, Charles Lawing (Dean), Howard Lawing (Betty), and Jackie Lawing.
She is survived by her two children, Kimberly H. Mull and fiancé Wendell Hendrix of Lincolnton, and Gary L. Lawing and fiancé Lauren Hawkins of Maiden; four grandchildren, McKenzie N. Mull, Ashley L. Maier and husband Thomas Maier, Zachary C. Lawing, Samuel D. Lawing and fiancé Madison Ford; two great-grandchildren, Gavin C. Lane and Avlyn Maier; Wallace Lawing (Pat), Donald Lawing (Kay), Pat Rush, Jeannie Arrowood (Gene), Jerry Lawing (Billie Jo), and Lurylene Lawing. Margaret’s legacy continues through a large extended family, included many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish her memory forever.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and was very active in her church community.
She and her late husband, Tony, were the founders of Lincolnton Paint and Glass in 1973. They both worked there until retirement; however, the business still remains in the family. She was also a makeup consultant at Hazel Keller Cosmetics and loved selling Princess House Crystal. Some of her main hobbies outside of work were working in her garden, and watching her Atlanta Braves.
Margaret Lived her life to serve the Lord and obeyed God’s will. She shared love and kindness with everyone and was always willing to help those in need.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers who provided so much love and care to Margaret. They are Cherish Carter, Penny Jones, Lynn Jones, Becky Airy, Teresa Corvin, and Terrie Arwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to VIA Health Partners, PO Box 470408, Charlotte, NC 28247, in honor of Ashley Royal and Brad Dunn, or to Macedonia Baptist Church, 5286 E. Highway 150, Lincolnton, NC 28092.
